APPLETON, Wis. (WLUK) — Appleton leaders and first responders recognized a child for her brave actions that helped save a loved one’s life.
Josie Pethan, 11, was home sick from school a few weeks ago when her mother suffered a sudden cardiac emergency. Officials say Pethan “immediately knew something was wrong” and first contacted nearby family members for help, then called 911.
“While on the phone with dispatch, Josie calmly followed CPR instructions and began lifesaving efforts on her mother. She did not hesitate. She did not panic. She continued CPR until responders arrived and took over care,” a Facebook post from the Appleton Police Department reads…
