Appleton Airport speaks on Allegiant, Sun Country Airlines merger

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – Allegiant Airlines has reportedly announced that it will merge with Sun Country Airlines in what is said to be a $1.5 billion deal.

Both Allegiant Airlines and Sun Country Airlines offer flights at the Appleton International Airport, the only airport in northeast Wisconsin that has service from both airlines.

The Director of the Appleton International Airport suggests that both airlines are expected to operate individually for the time being.

As of right now, we don’t have a tremendous amount of information about the acquisition. We do know that they will both be operating as individual airlines until the acquisition is completed and we expect that to be the second half of 2026.
