Before the hills can come alive with the sound of music, Evergreen Theater first has to get settled into its new home and say so long, farewell to its former one.
It’s no small undertaking to move an entire theater company across town one Penske truckload at a time. Every weekend since Christmas, a volunteer army has been packing up props, costumes, set pieces, furniture and sheet music – two warehouses’ worth – and hauling it all into the former Keller Elementary School.
Think “Velveteen Rabbit” costumes, thrones, Ebeneezer Scrooge’s tombstone, trunks, a flock of sheep from “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” phones from every era imaginable, faux brick walls, Seroogy’s chocolate boxes filled with jewelry, lampposts, sewing machines, boxes of French military hats, roller skates and at least one baby doll…
