NEENAH – ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah has been nationally recognized for the quality of its bariatric surgery program.
The center recently received accreditation as a Comprehensive Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Center with Obesity Medicine Qualifications, according to a community announcement. The honor is a quality initiative from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).
There are 10 other MBSAQIP-accredited centers in Wisconsin.
What does the accreditation mean?
The accreditation followed a thorough review of the program to ensure the following:
- operating rooms, equipment and technology can perform complex weight loss surgeries;
- medical and surgical procedures advance the quality and safety of care;
- surgeons and staff are trained and experienced;
- nationally recognized benchmarks and care standards are met; and
- continued support is provided after surgery.
