Bakeries gear up for Fat Tuesday paczki rush

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Steeped in Polish tradition, the paczki is a treat many Wisconsinites look forward to on Fat Tuesday. Last year, Smurawa’s Country Bakery alone went through 35,000 of these beloved pastries.

“Lots and lots of paczki. Oh, so many flavors. So many paczki,” said Samantha Smurawa, store manager at Smurawa’s Country Bakery. “It’s our family recipe. We’ve been doing this going on 29 years, and we’re just so excited to be here once again.”
