Ice fishing around Door County? DNR issues reminder about ice shanties

If you go ice fishing around Door County and have a shanty out on the bay of Green Bay or Lake Michigan, you’ve got a little more than two weeks left to get the shanty off the ice.

That’s the word from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, which issued a reminder news release Feb. 20 about its deadlines to remove ice shanties from inland and boundary waters around the state.

The deadlines apply to what the DNR considers permanent shanties, meaning shanties that aren’t removed daily but instead stay on the ice for extended periods of time. Anglers can continue to use portable ice shanties after the deadline dates if they are removed from the ice when they are not actively in use and at the end of each day…
