Wind, snow causing power outages, especially around Bay of Green Bay and Lake Michigan

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Utility companies are chasing down numerous power outages Friday morning with snow and high winds, including almost 3,500 customers in Door County.

At 6:30 a.m., Wisconsin Public Service reported outages affecting over 5,700 customers across the eastern side of the state, up from 3,200 an hour earlier. Affected areas are clustered around the Bay of Green Bay and Lake Michigan, where winds are strongest. These include 3,489 homes and businesses in Door County; 697 in Kewaunee County; 504 in Menominee County, Mich.; and about 400 each in Marinette and Manitowoc counties.

WE Energies reported over 8,200 homes and businesses without power — down from 12,000 an hour before. Power was restored to over 1,100 customers in Outagamie County. Remaining outages affect 1,889 customers in Shawano County and 412 in Dodge County. WE Energies is aware of 166 separate outage points…
