(WFRV) – The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is in the early stages of exploring the addition of men’s wrestling to its athletic department – which would make it just the second Division I wrestling program in the state of Wisconsin.
Green Bay’s Athletic Director Josh Moon appeared on the ‘WI Wrestle’ podcast with Ben Askren, a 2008 US Olympic team member and National Champion, on Tuesday to discuss the rumors.
The university has begun laying the groundwork, including communication with Mike Moyer, the Executive Director of the National Wrestling Coaches Association. Those early conversations signal growing momentum behind what could be a major addition to the Phoenix athletic department…
