Kids in Green Bay asked to be ‘Hydro Helpers’ as part of winter fire hydrant upkeep program

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Kids in Green Bay are lending a helping hand to shovel out snow around area fire hydrants, and now city leaders are asking more families to join in.

It’s called the Hydro Helpers program.

With a parent’s help, kids can “adopt” a hydrant for the winter and clear a three-foot circle around it and a path out to the street so firefighters can reach it quickly…
