Interstate 41 northbound lanes reopen in Grand Chute after crash, fire

The northbound lanes of Interstate 41 in Grand Chute closed for over four hours March 30 after a semi-truck caught fire.

The crash happened at 7:07 a.m. A semi-truck blew a tire and crashed into the construction barrier just past the off-ramp to State 15/Northland Avenue, according to the Grand Chute Fire Department. The driver was able to get out safely by the time firefighters arrived and no one was injured, according to the fire department.

The fire spread into the trailer, so the fire department had to request more resources because the amount of fire and needed water supply. The northbound lanes on I-41 remained closed for about four hours to put the fire out and clean up the area. Traffic was guided off the interstate at State 96/Wisconsin Avenue, one exit south of the crash. The lanes reopened around 11:30 a.m…
