April showers drenches Northeast Wisconsin with rainfall nearly quadruple normal

(WLUK) — A soggy start to April pushed rainfall totals well above normal in parts of Northeast Wisconsin, leading to elevated river levels and minor flooding along the Wolf River.

In Green Bay, nearly 3 inches of rain has fallen so far this month. That is well above the typical April-to-date amount of about three-quarters of an inch. Since March 1, the area has recorded just over 6 inches of rain, compared with a normal total of just over 2.5 inches.

The moisture is also boosted by Blizzard Elsa, which added water once it melted. Even compared with last year’s above-average rainfall of nearly 4.5 inches over the same period, totals this year are still running ahead…
