Author, comic book writer and Lawrence University alum to head 2026 commencement

APPLETON (WLUK) — Author and comic book writer Marjorie Liu will be the keynote speaker for the 2026 commencement ceremony at Lawrence University. Liu is a Lawrence alumnus; she graduated in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in East Asian Languages and Culture with a minor in biomedical ethics.

In 2003, Liu earned a law degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

Liu began her writing career in 2004 with “Tiger Eye,” the first book in the paranormal romance series, “Dirk & Steele.” She would go on to write more than 10 books in that series. During that same period, Liu began the “Hunter Kiss” series and wrote numerous anthologies and short story collections.
