Shiocton under evacuation order as Wolf River flooding brings sturgeon onto shore

SHIOCTON, Wis. (WBAY) – Evacuation orders are underway in multiple communities across northeast Wisconsin due to widespread flooding.

One of those impacted is Shiocton, with a large-scale evacuation in place due to the concern of high-rising waters.

Sturgeon spotted outside river

Sturgeon were spotted outside Wolf River Asphalt, just outside Bamboo Bend, a popular place to catch sturgeon during spawning season. The fish were in a puddle in the parking lot.

The village stated that viewing the sturgeon spawning will not be allowed in the village this year. Bamboo Bend is closed this season due to the high water.
