Appleton neighbors oppose proposed Driscoll Street reconstruction project

APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) – People living along Driscoll Street in Appleton say it’s a quiet community away from the inner city.

“People that actually bought houses recently, they bought the house because of the feel of this neighborhood,” said Dawn Gilbert-Biechler.

Dawn Gilbert-Biechler and her husband Michael are among dozens of people opposing its possible reconstruction, sharing concerns about safety and traffic flow.

Proposed changes

If this project is approved, Driscoll Street would be narrowed from 32 feet to 26 feet, sidewalks would be added to each side of the road, and street parking would all be moved to one side…
