Woman dies weeks after alcohol-related crash in Appleton; teen driver could face charges

APPLETON (WLUK) — A woman involved in an April 9 crash has died from her injuries, the Appleton Police Department announced Thursday, and the 17-year-old driver of the vehicle that caused the collision could face homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle charges.

The two-vehicle crash was reported just before 7 a.m. on Wisconsin Avenue at Meade Street. One vehicle flipped in the crash, landing on its roof.

One of the people in the car that was struck, 72-year-old Margaret Hopfensperger, died last Friday — just over two weeks after the crash. Her husband is still hospitalized, police said. Their family established a GoFundMe account…
