Looking for a place to take a hot date? Walk no further than Fratellos, located at 501 W. Water St.
Upon entering, the bar had drinks as far as the eye could see: from fine wines to any kind of cocktail you could name, an appealing selection to anyone from snobs to the citizens of America’s drunkest county. My friend ordered an aperol spritz, a citrusy drink garnished with an orange slice. This drink was pleasing to the eye as well as the heart and I will definitely be returning for this drink on a hot summer night.
Most appetizers included four servings (four slices of bread, bruschetta, pork belly, etc.) so be ready to fight if your group is an odd number since they were all delicious — especially the Braised Beef Toast Points. The bread bowl features a daily rotating butter; the night of our meal it was the cinnamon maple butter, which was so good my friend proceeded to ask the waitress how much they were willing to sell him.
Meat lovers will be screaming, “winner winner, chicken dinner!” to this menu. They have a wonderful selection of entrees — categories dedicated to dishes featuring steak, chicken or fish, topped with delectable glazes and a sprinkle of chives to remind you of its poshness. I really enjoyed the Penne & Pomodoro dish included in the photo. With enough food for two, $30 feels well worth the meal received. Especially since you’re not just paying for the cuisine, as the view is half the price. So even through a bad date, at least you’re disassociating to a marvelous view of the rolling river…
