Former Carolina Apartments tenants in Thomasville want answers after abrupt shutdown: ‘Never emptied my bank account so fast’

THOMASVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — It has now been one week since residents at the Carolina Apartments in Thomasville had to evacuate with less than 24 hours’ notice after city officials declared the building unsafe.

Former tenants say that since that day, they’ve been searching for answers, financial help and a stable place to stay.

‘Emptied My Bank Account’

At Carolina Apartments, doors are now locked up, and windows are all boarded up. Former tenants say many of their belongings, including furniture, appliances and items with sentimental value, are still inside the building. However, they still haven’t heard from the landlord and haven’t received any refunds.
