Winston-Salem Real Time Crime Center hopes to expand camera access across city

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — The Winston-Salem Police Department is working to expand its Real Time Crime Center, which is a state-of-the-art surveillance hub launched a little over three and a half years ago.

The call for more people to register their own security cameras to help the police was issued after the double fatal Leinbach Park shooting in April.

Eyes on the Scene

Police learned they had no access to cameras in that area, making the investigation into what transpired even more difficult.

And amid mass gatherings like the downtown teen takeovers, investigators are calling on the public to help be their eyes on the scene…
