ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Longtime Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page announced his retirement on Thursday.
Page held a news conference at Veterans Park in Madison and said that he handed in notice of his retirement earlier today. His last day will be July 31.
His letter notifying the county reads in part, “I have been privileged to spend the majority of my adult working life serving and protecting the wonderful citizens of our county. … I have had many great experiences and met thousands of outstanding people while serving as sheriff of our county. Rockingham County is blessed to have so many dedicated and professional sheriff’s deputies and detention officers. Each day those dedicated public servants place themselves in dangerous and difficult working conditions. They come to work daily prepared to keep our citizens safe and secure in our community. I will miss each and every one of the dedicated employees I have worked with, and I thank them and their families for their patience and support over the many years.”…
