Here’s your ultra-hot holiday weekend forecast

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Record-breaking highs are expected to return today as temperatures hit the triple digits again!

We will have mostly sunny skies with highs near 100 this afternoon. A heat index around 108 will bring dangerously hot conditions to the Piedmont. Precautions must be taken to reduce the risk of overheating.  If you must be outdoors, take frequent breaks, seek shade and/or air conditioning, and sip water or sports drinks to stay hydrated. The UV index today is 10 out of 11. There is a slim chance of isolated showers along the Blue Ridge.

An Extreme Heat Warning will be in effect from noon until 8 pm today for the following counties:  Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, and Rockingham.  In these counties, we are expecting heat indices up to 110…
