Greensboro’s Fun Fourth Festival attendance down 37% amid record heat, officials say

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Downtown Greensboro drew an estimated 52,500 visitors over the Fun Fourth Festival weekend, despite high temperatures that organizers say cut into festival attendance.

The count covers the period from Friday afternoon through late Saturday evening, according to Rob Overman, interim executive director of Downtown Greensboro Inc.

The Block Party and Concert at Hamburger Square brought in about 800 people, while the Freedom Fun Run set a new participation record with 894 runners…
