Smoke from Canadian wildfires is expected to drift into the Piedmont today, making conditions hazy and potentially unhealthy for sensitive groups.
Today and tomorrow remain hot, with highs in the mid-90s, under partly cloudy skies. The heat index may reach 100 to 102 degrees on both days.
With a slim, 20% chance of a shower on Friday, there is little relief from the heat expected. Saturday, however, brings a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be strong to severe. There is a Level 2/Slight Risk of severe storms from the Triad, north and east. The primary threat will be from damaging winds.
