US 158 widening project in Forsyth County ahead of schedule, NCDOT says

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) —  Construction along U.S. 158 in Forsyth County has been underway for nearly two years, but the end is in sight.

North Carolina Department of Transportation officials say the project is running ahead of schedule.

The project stretches 5.8 miles long, beginning just west of Old Greensboro Road and ending just east of Belews Creek Road in Forsyth County.

Crews are widening U.S. 158 from two lanes to four divided lanes. Underground utility work, storm drainage installation, road plates and pavement patches are all part of the process. They’re also installing new traffic signals at major intersections…
