Greensboro police charge driver after street takeover

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A Greensboro man faces a charge after being accused of doing vehicular stunts on a Greensboro street.

Greensboro police arrested 20-year-old James Tyler on Thursday for allegedly doing burnouts and doughnuts in a public vehicular area.

Doughnuts and burnouts are examples of a street takeover. Street takeovers became officially illegal in North Carolina as of Dec. 1, 2023.

Tyler is accused of doing those stunts in a car on the evening of July 20 along West Market Street.
