1.9 pounds of marijuana,15 firearms seized in Randolph County; man charged

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) – A Randolph County man is facing drugs and weapons charges after a seizure at a home in Sophia on Tuesday.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Vice Narcotics Enforcement Team, along with the Vice Narcotics Unit, arrested a man on drug and weapons charges at a residence located on Old Flint Hill Rd. in the community of Sophia on Tuesday.

Christopher Niles Barnett, 53, was charged with felony possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance, felony possession of firearm by felon, felony alter/remove gun serial number, felony expose child to controlled substance, and misdemeanor possess marijuana paraphernalia.

During the search, detectives located and seized approximately 1.9 pounds of marijuana and 15 firearms along with ammunition. Barnett is being held without bond and scheduled to appear in Randolph County District Court on Wednesday…
