McLeansville man charged after shooting victim in Burlington

MCLEANSVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — A McLeansville man is in custody after shooting a man in Burlington on Saturday morning, according to the Burlington Police Department.

Matthew Dale Thompson, 52, of McLeansville, was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, felony discharge of a weapon into occupied property and misdemeanor discharge of a firearm in the city of Burlington.

According to the warrant, on or about Saturday, Thompson fired a 9mm Smith & Wesson M&P into a building located at the 2300 block of May Drive while it was occupied by the intended victim within the city limits of Burlington.
