PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — There is a Level 1/Marginal Risk of severe weather today for most of the FOX8 viewing area. The primary threat will be from damaging winds.
It’s quite a different morning across the Piedmont with temperatures in the lower-70s and noticeably higher humidity. A cold front is forecast to drop southward, across the North Carolina-Virginia line, later today.
Ahead of the front, highs climb to near 93 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms develop by mid-afternoon, and some may produce gusty winds. The chance of rain is 80%.
Storms tumble south of the Triad by 9 p.m., and the rest of the night stays partly cloudy. Lows return to near 70 degrees by daybreak on Saturday.
With the cold front to our south over the weekend, temperatures will stay much cooler. We are expecting mostly cloudy skies on Saturday with scattered showers, especially in our eastern and southern counties. Highs squeak up to the lower-80s.
