Lake Townsend nearly 6 feet below full

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Lake Townsend is down by nearly six feet due to the drought in North Carolina.

According to Greensboro Water Resources Director Mike Borchers, the lake is down 71 inches from being completely full.

Lake Townsend flows into Lake Brandt, which is about 15 inches below full levels.

Borchers said the lake fluctuates the most because of the demand put on it and a significant rain event would help bring some much-needed cushioning and a refill before next year’s warmer weather…
