THOMASVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — Have you noticed a cough that has lingered weeks after you recovered from an illness?
Triad health experts said they’ve seen more people complaining about a pesky and persistent cough.
A Novant Health Forsyth Pediatrics experts said it’s not uncommon, especially during the winter.
A persistent cough is a lingering effect after contracting any respiratory illness. The most important thing is to keep treating it until it is gone.
“I’ve had the cough … and the fatigue for probably about five weeks,” said Thomasville resident Tammie Auten.
It’s the lingering cough that everyone is trying to get rid of. Auten got sick right after Christmas, and she’s still coughing.
“I’m tired of staying at home and just trying to get out. I still try to … take precautions,” Auten said.
She’s worried that she might not get better.
It’s worse in the evenings than at night,” Auten said.
She’s not alone. The Thomasville Family Pharmacy team has seen people buying more cough relief products this year.
