1 shot in Rockingham County road rage incident, deputies say; search for suspect underway

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — One person is in the hospital after a road rage shooting in Madison on Thursday, according to a Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office news release.

At around 8:30 p.m., Rockingham County deputies responded to US 220 bypass near Sardis Church Road in Madison when they were told someone was shot.

Arriving deputies found a male victim in a blue color Jeep Wrangler who had been shot in the leg.

The victim told deputies that the shot was fired from a silver or white small Ford or Dodge truck driving alongside the Blue Jeep Wrangler on US 220 near Sardis Church Road.

Rockingham County investigators believe this was a road rage incident.

The victim has non-life-threatening injuries and is in the hospital.
