(PINPOINT WEATHER) — The rain is done, but flooding lingers along some local streams, creeks and rivers. Fortunately, we’ll be dry until Tuesday night or Wednesday, so it’s a good couple of days for those water levels to recede.
In the mountains, it’s a different world again tonight, where snow is falling and will continue to do so through at least Monday morning. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for Ashe, Watauga and Avery counties through noon Monday. We’re expecting up to 3–6 inches of snow along with gusty wind.
Avery and Watauga County Schools on 2-hour delay due to snow
A WIND ADVISORY is in effect through noon Monday for Burke and Caldwell counties, with gusts to 50 mph possible.
The wind will be breezy everywhere else through tonight and tomorrow. The sky will clear and we’ll see lots of sun to kick off the week. Lows drop into the 30s tonight, with highs in the near-normal mid-50s tomorrow.
The next system moves through Wednesday, bringing more scattered rain showers and a little snow for the mountains.
