Interstate reopens after container blocks highway near Prospect Street in Randolph County

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — A crash has caused a backup on the interstate in Randolph County early Tuesday morning.

US 29/I-70 near Prospect Street in High Point, on the Randolph-Guilford County Line, was blocked off in the northbound lanes due to a container blocking the road under a bridge.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol says that around 5:30 a.m., the container was being hauled on a flatbed when the load hit the bridge and fell off, blocking the highway. Additional crashes happened as a result of this blockage.

The road reopened just before 8 a.m.

There have been no reports of injuries, and this is a developing story.
