BURLINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — Officials are continuing to search for a 19-year-old Alamance County boy who hasn’t been seen since early Sunday morning.
According to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, Antwain McDaniel was in a vehicle with friends that crashed Sunday morning at Durham Street Extension and Routh Road in Burlington.
His friends told officials he got out of the car and went into the woods.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol says that they investigated the crash, which happened after they said the car McDaniel was in was being pursued by a separate law enforcement agency. The car crashed and hit a ditch and a mailbox and was abandoned when the pursuing agency and troopers got to the scene. It’s unclear who was driving and no one has been charged or taken into custody at this time.
Alamance County Emergency Management officials put a boat in the Haw River on Tuesday. The search is resuming Wednesday morning, with investigators searching the banks of the river.
An update is expected to be provided by the sheriff’s office around 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
