Lexington man wins $1 million after buying scratch-off at grocery store

WELCOME, N.C. (WGHP) — Andrew Berrier, of Lexington, bought a $30 scratch-off and won a $1 million prize.

Berrier bought his winning Millionaire Maker ticket from Welcome Food Mart on Old U.S. 52 in Welcome.

North Carolina man wins $50,000 a year for 20 years after buying lottery ticket at convenience store

When Berrier arrived to collect his winnings Monday, he had a decision to make.

He could choose to receive his prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000.

He chose the lump sum of $600,000.

After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $429,009.
