Questions remain 2 years after High Point man’s body left in busy area

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — High Point detective working on an unsolved homicide case needs your help.

“John had been shot to death … It’s been two years. It’s past time to come forward and do the right thing,” said Det. Dan Sellers from the High Point Police Department.

In Jan. 2022 , John Boone was shot, and his body was dumped in north High Point . More than two years later, there are no suspects.

As long as a case is unsolved, it’s still active. In High Point over the past four years, 88 percent of homicides were solved, but that 12 percent unsolved is what sticks with them. Particularly in this case, Boone was deaf, nonverbal and well-liked by this community.

“It’s hard to imagine being here at how public we are. There are so many cars and people nearby that someone could dump a dead body here and think they could get away with it. If I have anything to do with it, they won’t,” Sellers said.

He often returns to the scene. It’s at the corner of two dead-end streets: Futrelle Drive and Lakewood Drive.
