Motorcycle chase ends with arrest in Carroll

A Burlington, N.C. man has been arrested in Carroll County following a motorcycle pursuit that began in Patrick County.

According to the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit began at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8 when Virginia State Police Senior Trooper Jeremiah Mabe attempted to stop a motorcyclist for traveling 81 miles per hour on Jeb Stuart Highway.

“The motorcycle fled from Mabe and a pursuit ensued. Patrick County Sheriff’s Major Rob Coleman entered the pursuit to assist at the intersection of Animal Clinic Road,” Smith said. “The motorcycle continued to flee westbound on Jeb Stuart Highway. The Patrick County Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications Center notified Branch Civil to stop all traffic in the construction zone going up the mountain. Smith said that traffic was successfully stopped. The pursuit continued up the mountain and into Carroll County, where Coleman lost sight of the motorcycle and terminated the pursuit. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, after being notified by Patrick for assistance, located the motorcycle at the end of a dead end road off of U.S. 58.”
