Pedestrian in critical condition after being struck by SUV in Greensboro; driver to be charged

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A man is in critical condition as the result of a crash to took place on Wednesday morning, according to the Greensboro Police Department.

All lanes of traffic were closed at the intersection of Yanceyville Street and 16th Street on Wednesday due to what police described at the time as a “traffic accident.”

The crash occurred just one block away from the intersection of East Cone Boulevard and Yanceyville Street.

On Thursday, police revealed that they responded to the intersection after getting a report of a crash with personal injury involving a pedestrian.

Investigators say that the man was struck in the intersection at an unmarked crosswalk by a 2018 Buick Encore. He was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

Police say that impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash and “charges are forthcoming” against the driver of the Buick.
