WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A somber mood envelops the city of Winston-Salem following a devastating incident Thursday night that claimed the life of a young individual and left another wounded. The local police department is actively investigating the homicide that has shaken this community to its core.

The Incident Unfolds

As the clock struck 8:01 p.m. on the quiet streets of the 100 block of Goldfloss Street, tragedy struck. Shannon Howard James Pitts, just 19 years old, was discovered by responding officers, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate life-saving attempts by the officers, Pitts was pronounced dead at the scene, marking a poignant end to a life cut tragically short.

Another Victim Injured

The grim discovery did not end with Pitts. Officers found another individual, also suffering from a gunshot wound. The second victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was swiftly transported to a local hospital by Forsyth County Emergency Medical Services (FCEMS). Thankfully, the injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the night’s darkness.
