2 arrested in Myrtle Beach, charged after NC A&T State University student killed in crash, police say

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Two people have been charged after an NC A&T State University student was killed in a crash involving a stolen vehicle, according to a Greensboro Police Department news release.

The driver, 22-year-old Darion Tyric Valentine, was arrested on June 17 in Myrtle Beach and charged with:

  • felony hit-and-run death
  • felony possession stolen auto
  • careless and reckless driving
  • speeding
  • no operator license
  • running red right
  • fictitious registration plates
  • misdemeanor possession of marijuana

The passenger, 23-year-old Dasyne’ Akiese Hairston was arrested on June 17 in Myrtle Beach and charged with:

  • felony hit-and-run death as a passenger
  • felony possession stolen auto
  • misdemeanor possession of marijuana

Valentine and Hairston are expected to be extradited back to Greensboro.
