GREENSBORO, N.C. (WJHL) – The Spartans salvaged a 1-1 draw against the Lady Bucs with a late, long shot on Sunday afternoon.

ETSU struck first in the match, when Ruby Teixeira threaded the needle to Kyra Ranvek in the 35th minute. Ranvek dribbled in one-on-one with the goalkeeper and slotted a shot home to the near-side post.

The Lady Bucs were seven seconds from victory, when Azumi Oka sent a long ball into the box from near midfield. The defense was unable to clear the ball, as it bounced off the hands of Ashton Blair and into the net.

UNCG out-shot ETSU, 13-10 in the draw, while the Lady Bucs had a slight edge in corner kick opportunities, 6-4.

ETSU (2-4-2, 1-0-1 SoCon) returns home to face Mercer next Saturday. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m.
