Cloudy skies and a high of 76 on Friday in the Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A cold front is barreling across the country and promises big changes to the weekend forecast!

Ahead of the front today, temperatures will return to the mid-70s. Skies will steadily get cloudier through the morning commute, but rain chances will stay below 20%.

If we get any light showers or sprinkles, it will most likely be in the Foothills and Mountains.  The weather will be perfect for FOX8 High School Football Frenzy tonight!

Temperatures are going to stay in the 60s from kick-off to the end of area games.  The front slides through the Piedmont tonight, keeping our skies mostly cloudy and lows in the upper-50’s.

Over the weekend, highs will be in the upper-60s on Saturday with mostly cloudy skies. Highs will be a little lower on Sunday, in the mid-60s, under partly cloudy skies.

The new work week starts with clouds and cool temperatures in the upper-60s on Monday.

Election Day is Tuesday, and we’ll have mostly cloudy skies.

Starting Tuesday, our highs will pop back into the mid-70s and stay there through Thursday.  Another approaching cold front means showers become more likely as rain chances climb to between 25% and 50% on Wednesday and Thursday.
