Female victim severely injured during assault in Winston-Salem, man faces multiple charges, police say

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A suspect was arrested on Friday after an assault and faces multiple charges, according to a Winston-Salem Police Department news release.

Officers responded to a call for help at the intersection of Clemmonsville Circle and Woodcote Drive regarding an EMS call.

After further investigation, officers learned a female victim had been severely injured in an assault.

Investigators identified the suspect as 42-year-old Lavon Johnson and learned he had a fugitive warrant out from another state.

He was found at his home and apprehended in the 800 block of Charles Court after a brief foot chase.

He faces the following charges:

  • Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill or Inflict Serious Injury
  • felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance
  • felony possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Misdemeanor Resist, Delay, & Obstruct
  • misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun

He was given no bond.
