BURLINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — A woman has turned herself in to the Alamance County Detention Center for a fatal crash that happened in October.
On Sunday at 12:30 p.m., Jeanette Alston surrendered herself to the Alamance County Detention Center.
She is currently being held without bond for involuntary manslaughter and aggravated felony death by vehicle.
Her first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
At 2:11 p.m. on Oct. 25, the Burlington officers responded to the intersection of US 70 at North Church Street and Beaumont Avenue when they were told about a severe crash.
At the scene, EMS pronounced Jonathan L. Pickard, 57, dead. He was a passenger in one of the cars during the crash, police say. Two other people were left with minor injuries.
Police say excessive speed and alcohol use were factors in the crash.
Police have charged Azalea Angel Hooten, 21, of Burlington, with involuntary manslaughter and speeding. She turned herself in and received a $25,000 unsecured bond.
