‘Miracle’: High Point teenager who suffered brain injury after crash is on road to recovery

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — The holidays are a time to surround yourself with loved ones.

The Dulin family spent last Christmas huddled around a hospital bed as Caleb Dulin recovered from a brain injury.

This Christmas, Caleb is home and has a clean bill of health. He is the son of long-time High Point Police Officer David Dulin.

The crash happened on Oct. 31, 2023, and Caleb spent 50 days on life support and months in a hospital bed wondering if he would ever be able to get back to all the things he loved.

“I am feeling great,” Caleb said. He is back at school. “Civics is really good, but biology is not too good.”

Caleb is also back to creating art.

“It has helped me a lot with the dexterity and … hand-eye coordination,” Caleb said.

And he is back to being a typical teen.

“I haven’t gotten to snow ski. I would like to do that,” Caleb said while looking over at his dad.

“It’s not going to happen,” David said while shaking his head at his son.

Caleb is able to do almost anything, but the biggest challenge at this point is his strength.
