FOX8 gets first look at new Caesars Virginia casino

DANVILLE, Va. (WGHP) — After more than two years of planning and construction, Caesars Virginia is set to open its doors on Dec. 17.

The $650 million resort and casino, located less than an hour from Greensboro, marks a significant milestone for the region and is expected to draw visitors from across the country.

“Everyone here has the common goal of getting this facility open to the public. There’s a lot of excitement to be part of a grand opening … For me, the most rewarding thing is being able to build your team up from the beginning,” General Manager of Ceasars Virginia Chris Albrecht said.

The resort features nearly 1,500 slot machines, 80 table games and 21 high-stakes poker tables alongside several dining options, including the first Gordon Ramsay restaurant in Virginia. It also boasts a Caesars-branded hotel and a 50,000-square-foot meeting and convention center that doubles as an entertainment venue.

“I think they’ve blown it away with the design of this place. Until you’ve seen it in person, it’s hard to grasp just how breathtaking it is,” Albrecht said.
