A lot of folks thought Friday night would be the final game of 2026 Tennessee Vols five-star quarterback commit Faizon Brandon’s junior season.
Instead, Brandon and his teammates at Grimsley High School have one more game on the agenda — next Friday night (December 20) against Rolesville for a North Carolina state championship.
Grimsley was down 17-7 at one point on Friday night against Weddington, but thanks in large part to a big second half from Brandon, the Whirlies were able to rally for a 35-23 win.
Brandon threw three long touchdown passes in the second half — 39 yards, 45 yards, and 55 yards — to help Grimsley pull out the win.
Brandon, 6-foot-4/197 lbs from Greensboro, NC, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
The dynamic quarterback is the crown jewel of the Vols’ 2026 recruiting class. He’s a player that has the talent to help Tennessee dominate in the second half of the 2020’s — you know, a decade that former UT head coach Jeremy Pruitt once said was going to be the “decade of the Vols”.
