Officer Michael Horan’s body will be escorted from Raleigh back to Greensboro Friday

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Expect a heavy presence of first responders on the highway today as a fallen officer is escorted home.

Greensboro Police Department will be escorting the body of Officer Michael Horan, who was shot and killed on Monday at the Food Lion on Lawndale Drive , from Raleigh back to Greensboro on Friday afternoon.

According to the department, they will begin this journey around 4:30 p.m. First responders will be present on overpasses and bridges throughout the route from Raleigh to the funeral home in Greensboro, primarily on I-85 through the Triad.

Drivers should use caution if they see the police processional. Drivers are also asked not to park along the highway, stop traffic or otherwise put themselves in danger in an effort to watch the procession.

Expect updates and live looks from the route throughout the evening from FOX8.

The suspect, Tarell Isaac McMillian, has been charged with first-degree murder and appeared in court on Thursday.
