Winston-Salem prepares to welcome NASCAR fans

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — The City of Winston-Salem is gearing up to welcome thousands of NASCAR fans to the city for The Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium.

It’s just two months away. Winston-Salem Fairgrounds announced plans to host campers the weekend of the big event.

This will be one of the biggest event weekends in the region.

“We’re really excited about being able to offer this to the fans,” Winston-Salem Assistant City Manager Ben Rowe said.

The City of Winston-Salem wants to create an experience for fans coming to enjoy the return of the NASCAR Cup Series at Bowman Gray Stadium for the first time in 54 years.

Fans will have the option to camp at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds from Feb. 1 to Feb. 3 for the event.

“We’ve got a great layout … If they want to do full hookups with electricity and water and sewer, they can do that. If they … just want to come and pitch a tent and hang out … during the race weekend, they can do that, too,” Rowe said.

Booking fees will depend on which style of camping people choose. There will also be a three-night minimum for booking. The fairgrounds are just over a 10-minute drive away from Bowman Gray Stadium, and fans will need to be ready to navigate parking.
