Man suspected of armed robbery, kidnapping of Winston-Salem gas station clerk charged, extradited

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The man who police say committed an armed robbery at a Speedway gas station in Winston-Salem and kidnapped the store’s clerk before eventually letting her go in Tennessee was extradited back to North Carolina on Tuesday and formally charged, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.

On January 8, Winston-Salem officers responded to a security check at the Speedway gas station at 2700 University Parkway. When they arrived around 12:31 a.m., they discovered the store empty, with no clerk on site.

Surveillance footage revealed that the store clerk, 40-year-old Latoya Lynn McEachern, had been abducted during an armed robbery at 11:46 p.m…
