Elon Returns To The Track At The Mondo College Invite

Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Elon University indoor track & field team won seven events and entered the program’s top ten lists three times Saturday at the Mondo College Invitational at JDL Fast Track. It was the first meet of 2025 for the Phoenix.

INTO THE RECORD BOOKS

  • Adriana Clarke skyrocketed into the record books in the weight throw, placing second overall with a toss of 54-feet-11.25 (16.74m). That distance ranks fifth in program history and Elon took three of the top seven places in the event Saturday.
  • Mya Lee set a new PR in the 60 with a time of 7.82 seconds during the prelims and then, just a little while later, improved on that in the 60 finals. She ran 7.81 seconds and is tied for eighth in school history with the performance.
  • Isabella Johnson finished second in shot put with a new PR distance of 43-2.25 (13.16m). That moves her to 10th in program history in the event and easily improves on the freshman’s previous collegiate best of 11.73m.

OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

  • Making her collegiate debut, Duna Viñals won the seeded section of the 400 with a time of 58.63 seconds.
  • Isabella Johnson and Meghan Coyne set new PRs in the weight throw with strong efforts. Johnson threw 48-6 (14.78m) and Coyne tossed 47-9 (14.55m).
  • Shayla Cann won the 800 with a new personal best time of 2:15.65 as the Phoenix took each of the top three spots (Jenn Gilman took the silver and Gabi Walker the bronze).
  • Nevaeh Kimmie was fourth in the triple jump with a PR jump of 35-6.5 (10.83m).
  • Alexa Mark had a season-best performance in the long jump, winning the event with a distance of 18-2.25 (5.54m).
  • Lizzie Lopez’s time of 9.50 seconds in the 60 hurdles is a new personal best.
  • Winter Oaster won the mile in 5:22.21.
  • Jazlyn Jefferson won the triple jump at 37-10.75 (11.55m).
  • Hannah Schonhoff tied her indoor personal best in high jump, winning the event by clearing 5-7 (1.70m).
  • Caden Cerminara won pole vault at 11-7.75 (3.55m).
  • Tristin Oberg and Adriana Clarke ended third and fourth in the shot put with season best marks of 40-3.5 (12.28m) and 40-2.25 (12.25m), respectively.

UP NEXT

  • Elon heads to Liberty to compete in the Brant Tolsma Invitational beginning Thursday. The three-day meet will conclude Saturday.
